the point is that terminators e.g. are on 40mm bases and still count as single mini and not monster. there is no miniature in fantasy that is standing on a 40mm base and counts as single mini.
AND this is fantasy and not 40k, it clearly says "20x20, 25x25 or 25x50, single miniatures with other base sizes will be welcome in category 3 (monster)"

that link you posted was avaible long long before the GD, it's all there... "Pedestals are allowed but will not be judged" :( rules should be the first thing to check out before going to a GD...

Yes, that category was really the best of the worst which has won. Thet unit that got bronze was picked from the bottom shelf of the display cabinet (all good pieces go in the middle). There were better entries, but they got disqualified because of a wrong number of minis.

Good luck the winner was a nice piece.

The other category which didn't really impress me was Diorama...
