I think we all know that they both would never intend to cheat their way to a demon (and i dont think demons are all that important for them either), so basically this comes down to unfortunate actions by the customer (who would act differently as well had he known the outcome, i am sure), who obviously wasn't too much into demons and their "do and don't"'s.
a complete different story, concerning loopholes in GW rules...
Golden Demons never had any ruley beyond "if you enter category A you have to mount the mini on a base of the size Y x Z".
they don't coment on if the painter has to be there or any other things that would make strict guidelines. they decide that on the day and if/when the occassion arises and once the demons are given out there won't be any changes. they simply don't care.
Golden Demons are a part of the Games Day, which is a pure GW merchandising event. What matters to GW as a company is money, not the comunity. If there were only 10-14 year olds buying the stuff they sell, slaughter it with hobby-knifes and bury the minis under 2mm of paint - they wouldn't care. They don't care for a painting comunity and if the Golden Demons are "fair".
That's why there will NEVER be a reglement longer than 25 lines of text and NEVER will there be a unified reglement for ALL demons around the world...
so speaking about loopholes in a system hat has holes the size of black holes that close at the will of whoever has the say on things on the ver day anyway is redundand.
