They look very tough indeed. Must not be the most comfortable armour to wear... ;)

seems like Privateer Press developed their own style, but I like it less and less. Still they present some really cool paintjobs (yeah, fluffy's) and some of the jacks or characters are cool. Still most of the rank-and-file stuff isn't the kind I like...

I see your point Mahon. I also have double feelings with the latest PP stuff. Some are extremely cool, while other aren't even close to... My opinion is that they started too soon with Hordes. Warmachine is still in full growth. It expanded with more than 300% in 2-3 years. They constantly need to press harder to keep up with the demands. Some releases were even delayed because they couldn't keep up with the demand for the previous releases. I think Hordes is partially released to get the pressure of the Warmachine stuff, but this seems to effect the quality. This saddens me, as I'm a real fan of PP's works and it's not fun to see the quality drop :(

IMO they should have waited with Hordes till they had WM at a more or less steady level.

But that's just my opinion, I don't know all the rest that goes on in PP's headquarters :D

Yep, I would blame it on Hordes, too.. I wan't always too fond of some Warmachine minis but there were really many excellent minis in this range. And they were something fresh in the hobby. Now I have the feeling I'm seeing things I've already seen. And they seem to be unable to keep the quality for some of the 'normal' troopers... Some poses are not so good, some are too similar to each other, some are boring.

I would say it's the same thing which caused complaints when GW started to move from metal troopers to plastic ones. When they were metal, most of the minis had character, personality. That's what I feel when I look at old GW stuff - even if technically it's far from today's standards. Then everything got streamlined, standardized... Is it bad? Dunno, just not as interesting as it used to be...

When I look at confrontation stuff, some ranges are just so full of character: Mid-Nor for example, or Wolfen, or some Devourers ain't bad, too. Each mini looks like an individual work. I felt the same about Warmachine in most cases. Now, with Hordes, they moved the accent from quality to quantity. If it's OK for Privateer Press - that's cool. But for a miniatures enthusiast like me, the standard is unfortunately decreasing :(

they should change the background- the minis blends with it too much..
but the mini is much better than some of the previous releases..

I have always said that about 90% of the PP line is of average quality of sculpting, the poses are not very dynamic and have very little movement in them. The Jacks are way too top heavy and the swords look like they would break your arm rather than cut it because they are so think. I understanding it is a "style" but I just don't like it. They are also a pain to put together. However, I think a lot of the paint jobs look worse because of bad photography.

The universe they have created is awesome and quite refreshing. I love the imagary of the Jack "waking" up as the warcaster prepares for battle.
Currently painting 15mm's with an extremely large brush - one step away from dipping them in the pot.
