1. I think that all 3 aforementioned games are skirmishes.
2. can't argue with that, though main difference for me is style, not quality (FB standard fantasy, ToW - cartoony fantasy).
3. I don't think that ship board is a requirement :)

can't say much about any of the games, all I know is that FB rulebook is one of the best (THE best?) looking books I've seen in the gaming industry :)

I've played the freebooter's fate game and I must say, it's great. Very tactical and no dice needed, which was a first for me.

Also now that I've seen the figs IRL, I'm really really impressed. They look better than on the photo's IMO. I've ordered my starterset, and that while I said that I would rather buy ron & bones pirates than the freebooter stuff :D

This one is very nice. I would like to paint it but I don't think I would want to pay for it.
