More NMM practice. Trying to deepen the shadows and adding a touch to highlights.

Not my best work and the pictures are shit. But you get the idea.

The head of the mini from HF is great! Painted as precisely as I like :)
But the base is boring especially having a large surface of skin/body next to another large surface of the base :( The mini needs more details ... maybe shells, or little fish, or roots on the edge?

And the NMM on the older work is really better :) I mean NMM on the front of mini. Even patchy application of paint doesn't bother me. But the back side still lacks higlight.
Look on the forearm. It is missing a highlight going along the arm.

Thanks for the kind words Ana.

I really would like to get this technique down this year. I really get a lot of "doesn't look like NMM...." or "That looks good but you need to work on you NMM". I am *starting* to get the hang of it but clearly I still need to do more trial and error on my part.

wow, now for a change you are showing us some good smoothness! totally different to your latest paintjobs...
probably technically-speaking the best of them all: good smoothness, good precision, mediocre base: I think she's sunbathing because bathing in this muddy puddle is out of question ;)

as for your NMM - the guy in blue jeans has it done as right as you managed to do it. I mean the front. The back doesn't look much like NMM. You got the placement of highlights so right that it looks just like taken straight from some kind of a painted picture ^^ what you need to do now is improving smoothness - just like you did on the girl.

Thanks for the kind words mahon. Still think that I have a consistency issues too. The overall transitions could use some work too. I may need a new brush. I notice that the my points are starting to frey and I can't get them back even with pink soap and conditioner.

Great job with his face  and beard (the latter could be more shiny in few places).
I like the axe too.
Could you post a pic showing, what's on the shield?

definitely getting better and better. the weakest parts are the horns and the golden bands on his helmet. especially the rivets look flat and not well defined there...
