well... its about personal choices... i personally dislike, unpolite, untolerant, arrogant, unrespectfull and judgemental behaviours... and like less any form of war on our miniature community.

but again its about personal choice, if you choose to transform this hobby in business then miniature community transforms in potential clients and fellow hobby budies studios in competition. you cant have the best of the two.

in order for you to be competitive you will experience stress and that is quite normal in every business.
if this is a hobby then its a antistress activity...

you have to take the good with the bad on every decision you make unless you want to reach high levels of frustation.

since you want to do business then arm yourself for war because its quite obvious your competitors arent friendly... but again it can be messy or just a walk in the park depends if you let them get in to you.

i take the liberty to give an advice... dont enter in verbal offenses, its childish and unprofessional and will help opposition goals (wich is quite obvious that want to label you like arrogant/cheater/poor artist etc)... do what you do best, sculpt and sell and keep distance from feelings.

may i remind also a famous remark by dali..."better bad publicity about me than no publicity at all" its true but theres other paths to take... and really hope this is not the choosen one  although i respect all diferent opinions and way of doing things.

Its very sad but i remind you of something fellow CofC... you can admire someones work but that hardly makes a person personality.

Fortunatly for me this is a great way to antistress, its my hobby and i want to better myself has a sculptor/painter and in the process share and learn with mature adult fellow hobbiysts... make internet friends that share my hobby and REPROVE with all my energies any type of freaking pointless wars.

wise words, Navarro...
and I know you are talking about something you know personally.

I had several bad experiences as a painter, not even mentioning the usual CMON issues. One I would like to mention was when we decided to finish our cooperation with one person, just because we feel we don't share our views on the hobby. The person accused me of being immature and having no guts to admit it was all about money. About money? What money? Money was the last thing I would have meant. It was all about ther person's activity, approach to the hobby, to the people, etc. Well, I don't like being called names, so I simply didn't respond. If the person wants to call me bad, ok, that's his right. But I didn't eget involved in any further discussions. It was pointless, and I would get unnerved at one point...
Well, that's something I believe would be better than cursing the ones who show their disdain/enmity to Scibor instead of behaving like them.

Finding the right path between the hobby and business is a difficult thing. Gives much satisfaction if it succeeds, but it's easy to trip over in the meantime :(

Mahon thats probably common behaviour of uninteresting people worlwide... wen they dont have arguments they start the name calling and nonsense sentences... i agree with you its best to avoid more conversations.

Unfortunatly we all experience it daily at our jobs, but heres were the big diference kicks in...

on your hobbies you can choose who to talk to and select your community... i have been in the hobby for about a decade and in deep silence for the first 7...on net for 3 or 4 and on my portuguese community for 2... Portuguese community just was a big nightmare and my biggest mistake on hobby i will never more contribute to it (from name calling, jealousy to sabotage wen i was involved on judging even nonsense remarks that i was getting money from making posters, cards, design and organizing for events etc..... you name it its there, it got to a point so sad that only solution was kickboxing or leave)

since im racional (and dont take hostages on a fight  ) i left it for about a year now and found home here... its just sad wen things get out of controll but wen that happens its because both parts are involved.

I have learned with my mistake and never more will i get involved with grey people on hobby, only regret 2 years of continuously giving chances and losing time and even money...but hey it made me a harder bug.

Present day im 200% more productive because my time its for me and for fellow net hobbyists (interested on hobby and not on grey agendas.)

life is so short that its a crime not to appreciate it on freetimes

and i leave you a hint of greypeople behaviour... wen they are frustated on real life they try to impose their egos and problems on hobbylife. well hobbys are the opposite of imposing... so run from them like the plague we dont want to catch the greyvirus, we are the chest of colors

@Navarro: pity, but you`re propably right that it`s common behaviour of uninteresting people worldwide. i remember some comments when i was rather active judge on painting competitions in Poland. i often heard from the pepole that didn`t win that it was all swindle , that judges pick up winners among their mates. well after a while I simply learned to ignore them or laugh such notes. well, but on the the other hand things started to look better here (hope I`m not mistaken on this one :) ). hope the things will settle with portuguese community as well.

@Szary - well, being a member of Leprechaun I feel I shouldn`t write this, but well... Belive me that it has nothing to do with it, it`s just my observation. I think there`s difference between Cyril`s and Hashmallum`s comments. Hash wasn`t offensive, he just expressed his point of view. In addition to that I`ve heard (but I`m not sure about it) that their private converstaion was rather friendly :) .

@Scibor - I think you were right to some degree when you`ve pointed out that there`s something strange with this copying someones style thing. at the same point I disagree with you about the tutorials, at least when they`re about technique. it`s definitely good to know which tools are good, how you can achieve smooth blends. it saves a newbie a lot of time. alsoI`ve seen a lot of books for architects, painters and designers so I belive they have some tuts too :).
I regret that when I was starting the hobby there was no source I could learn from. This left me vulnerable to some dangers when tons of online tutorials apeared. Now I feel that I made a progress from a technical point of view, but I have to go back to basics to redefine, to find my own style.

As my next post was more aboout style, techniques, and tutorials, I moved the rest of the topic elsewhere.

I believe this topic could only go on in a wrong way, with people arguing about a person who is a member of this community, so let's lock it...
