Avatars of War
Re: Avatars of War news
they don't even look like a rip-off, they look just like the GW ones
and so does the artwork.

Re: Avatars of War news
these were not provided to be as awesome as hero/lord type of minis. this is a cheaper alternative to GW products for WFB gamers who want big units. and this objective they fit perfectly
slightly cheaper than gw plastic boxes (and much cheaper in this particular case as GW has only metal slayers), pretty easy to paint and they scream Warhammer
I'm avoiding the "rip-off" discussion on purpose, aswe have already discussed this issue with almost every new AoW release
btw, if we compare these slayers to Mantic minis (same target group) released so far, they are nothing but pure awesomeness

Really? Because I feel like Mantic slayers are excellent miniatures that at least try to redesign the idea of the crazed dwarven fanatics.Nameless wrote: btw, if we compare these slayers to Mantic minis (same target group) released so far, they are nothing but pure awesomeness

Re: Avatars of War news
really. IMO of course.
I wasn't comparing AoW to Mantic slayers directly, but had the whole Mantic range in mind. and Mantic range is disappointing for now.
hats off to mantic though for not repeating the mohawk-dwarf-slayer concept, beaten to death by GW and many others (including AoW).

Re: Avatars of War news
As single minis these might look better but I don't like the way they rank up. They look like a bunch of raised weapons.
The Mantic dwarves look better when ranked up, but they're no match for the Avatar dwarves when you single them out of course.

Re: Avatars of War news
at least AoW unit looks like 20 different minis, not 20 copies of one sculpt

Re: Avatars of War news
I think comparing Mantic to any other range out there is always a bad idea!

First painted picture of a plastic berserker is up on their website. More are going to be added until pre-ordering time finishes, apparently.
