Agree about the sculpts, not my taste but I like the paintjobs. Simple but effective. :)

Kark Silkasson - 7/2009

Post by Nameless »

have you ever wondered where had all Ilyad Vorag Barbarians gone? Can't tell you about all, but one of them was sitting on my painting station for over a year. I was painting him slowly, but recently I finally forced myself to finish him. His name is now Kark Silkasson, don't ask me why :P
you can clearly see that pics are not made by me. Thanks my friend :)

I like everything about the mini except the eyes. Not sure what it is, but the eyes to me, are not up to the standard of the rest of the mini and the base. I really like the way you captured the snow and ice in the waterway effect.

Great piece, it really all comes together well. Nice and rugged is the atmosphere i feel with this one. Two comments, firstly i agree with mike that the eyes seem a little incomplete, maybe then need a bit more colour to them. The other comment (not sure how you'd feel about it) but adding a touch of weathering or mud to the bottom inside of the cloak to really set the model in the whole feel of the piece, not sure if it would be better but something to consider anyway. Still, it's a great piece and has been fun to watch it all progress.

eyes - I suck at painting small things like eyes. these here are quite nice actually :)
weathering - yeah, I perhaps should have done it. It didn't come to my mind though. BTW, I wanted to add some snow to branches of a tree, and forgot

I think a little bit of snow on the greenery would help but don't go overboard with it :) It looks really good atm anyway.

Painting wise I think it's your best one till now!

I love the base but think the figure should be placed more towards the center, left leg slightly in front of the tree.
I believe it would visually look even better. :)

I agree that it's your best work so far. The eyes need improvement, but looking at your works from two years back it's a giant quality leap.

Now see, that is the level of painting I am trying to reach.

Sounded like you were having problems with the base from your posts, but I think it looks great. The tones of the figure match nicely.
