For you it doesn't for me it does, I think it fits the comical style and will look great on the playing board.Nameless wrote: it doesn't.
and the big-head sculpts make them a big NO for me.

Re: new company: Studio Miniatures
I really like the style of painting. Of course, it's not a contest winner (probably a big loser because of the rough blending) but I like the strong contrast and thick paint applied. Looks very much like oil painting on canvas or comic-book cover. For me it works just fine! I like it a lot. Just check how well colors were used on Shaun's trousers and shirt - very eyecatching and really rich in colors!
And while Shaun looks pretty cool, Plissken's head is way too big for me. So a 50:50 this time.

I suppose we all give personal opinions only, not enlightened true. at least it seems to be obvious to me.Skrit wrote:For you it doesn't for me it does
@Mahon - I'm afraid that such paintjobs would get eaten alive here, if any of us posted them.
Re: new company: Studio Miniatures
I think Maru's style is pretty similar (I won't be judging now if it's better or worse, but to me they both have this oil-painting approach) and he doesn't get eaten alive.
I said that technically they are not perfect (actually not even close) but they do a very decent work for 'catalogue photos'. They're not supposed to be contest winners, they are not supposed to be examples of the painter's skills. For me they are supposed to make people want to buy the miniatures. To me they do this job (Plissken's head doesn't).

Re: new company: Studio Miniatures
ok, let's put it this way - I wouldn't be satisfied with such paintjobs if I were a company owner.
It is my own, personal, biased opinion and I fully accept opinion of other people, even if I don't agree with them.

Hey, that's why we have a great forum BECAUSE we CAN discuss!
Maybe the owner requested this style? As I said it has kind of a comical effect so maybe it fits whatevere the game is about?

Of course we don't have to agree on everything (only on most things
). And while talking of company owners - I think I would be satisfied (except for the white spot). I wouldn't be satisfied with the white spot or big heads though...
Re: new company: Studio Miniatures
I can understand why that style was applied and it suits the models i think, but neither the painting nor the sculpts appeal to me all that much, but i'm not a massive fan of zombie survival etc.
