The problem is that I'm allergic against cats in general, not just the hairs. Everything what comes from them... skin particles, spit, etc.
Nice idea though :).

Can't tell exact measures, as he is a bit poisonous (not deadly).
He is about the size of my palm, considering the full legspan, which means about 12-14 centimeters.

Not sure, that there are vegan spiders... ;-)

Bigger spiders indeed eat 1-2 day old mice, some can cope with even bigger ones. In the matter of size, my spider is somewhere in the middlefield. The largest spiders can grow 20-25 centimeters in legspan, so they really can catch even small birds.

Mine generally gets fed with crickets, and other insects I find around. He gets very excited and the hunting instinct comes spectacularly out, when I manage to catch a fat fly live, and give it to him :). Additionally some worms, like Messiah has are on the menu :).

As to the scientific side: as big and dangerous he looks, so "innocent" he is. You have to take care to give only as many crickets to him as he can eat, otherwise the crickets can eat him. As soon as you open the vivarium (so is the "terrarium" of spiders called), he flees back to his web and you don't see him for up to two weeks again. :) It is not easy to get a spider attack you, just like with other animals, he rather flees until he can, only attacks when feels cornered.
