Yeah it's supposed to be fabric but I thought to try something different :) I might use masking fluid and try some patterns on it eventually. I'm going to try out some new techniques on this one :)

Not sure yet. for the robes I'm leaning towards a mid-brown atm, but I'm also thinking about a dark blue (which is used in all the shading that you can't see...) or that candy red that I allready used on those little parts.
I'll probably go for the mid-brown and use the brighter colors for some details. But a lot of work has to be done before I can start the midsection so... I have time to think.

I really have to get better pics next time... If I only took the time to learn a bit of my cam...

Small update.

What I did:

- As usual I dropped the model on his head/hat that's why the top is bend and blue now...
- shaded the hat more, but it's still too soft.
- finished the belt on his hat.
- added some rust to his 'beak'
- Painted some areas blue + highlighted, shaded and glazed them.

I'm not satisfied with how he's turning out. Every part needs more work. Painting used to be so much easier. I can't focus because of the pain in my back and I have to take a break every 15 - 20 mins... plus my hands won't stop shaking for some reason.

I hope I can bring my painting up to my old level again :? (or better)

I also fiddled a bit with my camera and managed to get better pics!! Or at least I like to think I did...

hope you'll recover soon! :)
good to see the update but I think I'd rather like some natural (beige?) tone on cloak instead of blue :)

Thanks :)

In the meantime I painted a brown on the lower part of his coat. It's a two part coat. I didn't want the whole cloak in a brownish color :) If it looks weird in the end, or can't get it smooth, I think I will repaint the blue part.

I actually really like it so far, the colours work well together and the painting looks great :) I really like the darkened leather strap around his hat, it looks really nice :D

If your back is still hurting etc just take your time to relax :) maybe it's time to change the position in how you paint and actually painting can be bad for your posture, so you need to get up and move every so often to help the blood circulate. I stop every 15 mins or so just to stretch a little or change the position im in.
