Review of Vilthiss - Part 2 The Build

The main body and the head took 2 minutes to clean up. Snip off some excess flashing and rub knife across a mold line. The resin they are using is not your typical hard FW resin and is a lot softer and takes to accurate trimming with a very sharp blade with very little pressure. The fit of the top of the head to the body was as snug as a well designed plastic kit! Where the tail joins is a convenient belt to hide the join mark – again fitted quite snuggly with minimal clean up.

The sword and arms were one piece. The fit was good, not a 100% but left a very small gap to be filled with GS. Having built a lot of resin models I would say this was normal. A little trimming and a touch of GS and liquid GS worked a treat. The most of the clean up time was spent making the sword look sharp and getting rid of the excess flash. Where the sword was close to the arm some resin actually connected the two and required trimming. Cleaning the gap where the hand holds the sword was a pain – a lot of flash and some mold lines. There was a significant mold line of both arms BUT it must be stressed that it only seems significant because the rest of the model was so line free. I am almost tempted to say there was a small amount of slippage when resin was poured into mold.

With A+ being the highest grade I would still give this kit an A after having built it. In comparison to many kits this was well thought out and very detailed kit – clean up was approx 10 minutes in total. I got it during their 16% percent sale and that seemed a reasonable price and shipping was prompt.

I know own three Bane Lord/ Legion models. Would definitely recommend this company and plan on further purchases.

Is it me or the titties are way too disproportionate? They look like missiles heads! They're ugly on the concept and even more on the mini (where they aren't even straight, one pointing up, the other down).
Poor mini

miniature is a faithful representation of a bad concept sketch.
I believe there could be images proving these boobs are properly done, but I am not going to look for them this time...

What a waste of James van Schaik's talent...

Obviously the concept artist thought he was working for Soda Pop and not for maelstrom! :D
