What doesn't really convince me is the way the ice is broken. I would break it only around the model, not on the whole surface, but it could be just my preference...
the model ain't small, the base is pretty large :) the pic looks like you can see because I wanted to take a photo of whole piece and looks like if generated too much free space around  when I now look at the model I think I'd re-do it but because there's a deadline - I won't manage to modify it now

as for ice - I wanted to make ice breaking more dynamic but once again - it's the first time I was doing such ice so let's hope next time it will be better :)

taking pic (getting proper settings) was pain in the ass, and that's the case I was trying to call you about on sunday
kacpero wrote:love this dio and water/ice effect.. although i dont understand why soulhunter runs toward the water? is he run away? maybe go for some fishing? ;) dont get me wrong, i like whole winter atmosphere you build.. but i dont see any sense in this composition.
it was running/going somewhere and didn't notice it was stepping on frozen lake/pond (it's just stupid dead centayr, remember? ) - that's all :)
beside's the contest them was about winter and I wanted to show the piece of that season

will do

sorry, I was sick (actually I am not well yet) and the batteries in my phone died. I didn't feel like moving and taking care of it.
but it seems you managed to take some of your best pics anyway

the problem I had was (I think) balance of white:
I usually take pics on white background and camera was calibrated to such conditions but this time I had to use dark one because cutting white elements off white background would be just ther acid trip through hell :?
all in all I osed one of pre-set balances and it seems it was good shot :)

I know when i was working with polymers etc, we'd always use a warm environment as the cold weather actually slows down the process and can cause crystals to form from the solvent used which can screw up the whole polymerisation. Maybe something similar to that happens for water bases in cold weather? :)

Then it probably is just leaving it to stand for so long, the heavier stuff settling at the bottom of the can :).

I always mix the water effect before using it but no matter what the reason was - the piece is done :)
after finishing ME#3 piece I'll try to expand a tree and take some close shots

there will be close ups - no worries :) I just have to cope with some toy soiders screaming for painting from my desktop... :?

and as for the chemical properties of the water used: I poured it on saturday and today after I came back from work I accidently touched it - it's still soft so much that I managed to press fingerprint with with very soft touch :? :? :?

Good luck with remowing the fingerprint.
I use Vallejo Still Water Effect. It hardens very quickly and gives nice transparent "resin". Can be also colored if needed.
