have just looked over your dread and love it, i was wondering if you could possibly give out the pallet that you use for your NMM gold.

The NMM gold is the simple one that GW used to use actually, which is just scorched brown base, snakebite leather and white highlights :) nothing to it really.

no bubonic or bleached bone in between? thats awesome, great effect. one other question, are you layering or glazing your colors, mix of both, or something totally different. the gold has seamless transition.

I generally use thin layering with a couple of glazes between stages to help smooth out the colour. Im still trying to get a smooth effect overall. It's been an uphill struggle but im still trying to iron out my style. Still thanks for the nice comments :) but it's not as smooth as you say i could probably do better still.

As for the gold nmm, it was just purely 3 different colours and i have found when adding white to snakebite leather that you can quite easily control how yellow the colour comes out. I have been tempted to add a spot of yellow to the mix to give it a bit more colour.

Well it's been a while since i updated this blog. Since i got space hulk i have caved in and started to paint one of the minis, the detail is so good on these models and so far i've had alot of fun painting the mini. Anyway i wanted to try mixing metallics with nmm (after seeing Bohun's awesome work). I think i didn't add enough metallic paint but the addition of shining gold gave snake bite leather a much brighter colour which i really like actually. Anyway i'll keep trying and my focus is all on space hulk at the moment !

That gold looks great. What was the layering process for that?
