Indeed, took it directly from original topic, but i removed one thing or two and also, I like what sea.man proposed, but waiting on his feedback so we can do some mixingNameless wrote:what you have suggested is basically a copy of IP rules.
"IP like" for CofC members

Re: "IP like" for CofC members
I might throw in another idea.
How about having a contest each quarter of the year , like a spring-, summer-, autumn- and winter contest(or twice a year - spring and autmn contests)? This would give everybody roughly 3months for an entry but still maintain a decent amount of contest time per year imo so that no one will get bored by the lack of contests during a specific time.
I also think that it will increase the amount of participants since I guess some of you are also doin' comission work and stuff (or painting for other contests/GD/...) so that going for an IP kinda way might not be the best thing concerning submissions and/or will lead to a few DNFs.
I much appreciate the suggestion with increasing the time to complete a mini if going for an IP kinda contests but to be honest this will take ages to finish. Let's say there are 7 rounds 'till the final showdown that equals 21weeks (~3Months) and then +1Month for the finals so let's say we end up somewhere between 3,5 - 4months... I mean, ok, it is called IP for a reason but 4months "rushing" mini after mini and always having a given theme in mind won't be everybody's cup of tea. At least I probably wouldn't participate or if, I would end up with a DNF somewhere in between.

Re: "IP like" for CofC members
I like the idea of seasonal contests. Reaper does something similar, though not on a regular basis.
Re: "IP like" for CofC members
We also must have in mind that there are 1-2 miniature exchanges a year, where now many people participate. So I would say 2 contests a year is maximum. If it would be a 2-3 months event, then even once a year.
About one company based contests, I am against such contest. I understand that some company may want to give their own award for 'best COMPANY_X miniature' but it shouldn't be our goal to support one company. It also kills creativity - not all companies have big range.

I like the concept of seasonal events.
I always liked the idea of manufacturer's special additional award.
On the other hand if a company offers sponsoring which is so tempting that it would make a contest very popular, why shouldn't we make a dedicated contest for them? Like company A offers 1000 EUR in miniatures in sponsoring, so we can make EUR 500 for the 1st place, 300 for the second, 100 for the third, plus 5 x special random swags of 20. I think the contest would be very popular ^^

Re: "IP like" for CofC members
Well, Seam.man offered to asked, and I'm pretty sure that if we managed to set a contest sponsored by x or y company and with the renown of the CofC community, we would have quite a lot of popularity
Re: "IP like" for CofC members
Of course I can ask and when we meet the conclusion how the contes should look like I will.
I can't write from one company to the other if they will give use money for a contest that we don't know how it looks
1000€ would be nice of course. From what I see the companies usually give their own miniatures.

Re: "IP like" for CofC members
Well, let's work on something and then we'll go and poke the mini makers
Re: "IP like" for CofC members
I think we should first come up with an event that would attract some interest to be able to talk with potential sponsors with any reasonable chances of success.
