That's not quite true. In fact, the rules state,
No team entries allowed, and sculptors of original sculpts and conversions of manufactured models who did not paint the models entered will not be listed as entrants (i.e. no co-credit). For the sculpting category specifically, only one sculptor will be credited for the sculpt.
However, the rules only require that all painting be done by the entrant, so painting someone else's sculpt is perfectly acceptable. It doesn't receive credit as a team entry, so Hugo doesn't get any official credit from CoolMini (and no trophy), but I'm sure we all give him massive credit for producing such an amazing sculpt, right? :D

it was a PAINTING contest, so they don't care much whose sculpt it is.
after all every sculpt - even those you buy - was made by some sculptor, often not the author of the paintjob. so it's all fine with me.

Maybe someone only thinking that dollars= quality = free publicity for your business is looking at this hobby by the wrong prespective?

Personally its fiasco IMO and I'm not even going to ramble about the stupidity of team work!
