Well IMO the nmm looks good. The gold is a little bit too shiny compared to the rusty steel parts but other than that it looks very good I think.

Yup I still need to age the gold yet I need to come up with a decent vert-de-gris with Citadel paints for that.

I've heard that before. That NMM (some) looks better on photo's than it does in real... With RMM it's just the other way around! Harder to make it look good on a photo than it is in real...

Good thing you're switching back to good old metallics! :)

I also prefer metallics because of lack of nmm skills :(
one day I'd really like to paint some full-plate-armoured-mini using nmm only... :? stupid dream of a pathetic painter :(

Two new WIP's From Me (Expanded)

Post by tidoco2222 »

Well after having completed the skelly (still got Thrud to do but he is not interesting me at the moment), I thought I'd get back to my LOTR stuff. I love the minis and I have a good stack to get on and get painted. I'd thought I'd break myself in gently and do one character mini and went for Denethor steward of Minas Tirith. I started him this morning and this was the WIP pic as he was then,

I have since this pic was taken thismorning finished the mini and am just basing it up now. Nothing fancy planned for that as this is purely a gaming piece. Completed pic later.

Next up will be his number one son Boromir.

it's not a comment about wip but I finally have opportunity to say sth about loth, so here it is:
I don't like this game, I don't like it's concept, miniarures and stupid actors playing main roles in the movie :? it's sth totally different than Iimagined while reading a book :?
nevermind... :(
so far I cannot type too much about Your denethor, but i'm sure it's gonna be great mini when finished - just like rest of Your works...

Demi I respect your opinion on the whole LOTR thing, it would not do for us all to be the same. I for one read the book first when I was about 11 or 12 it was a gift from my Grandmother I have read it many times since, I also have watched the movies I like them even though the story does not run quite the same as the books. Anyway here is the finished Denethor, and in a day no less from start to finish. That for me is speed painting lol, not too challenging apart from the size as it is a come down from some of the things I've painted lately.

I enjoyed painting him, I hope you like him also.

I like him. Love the dark tone of the mini. Great skin. As you said this is a gaming piece made in one day. So I'm not going to say this could be better, or that could use some freehand...

For a gaming piece this is an exellent mini :) Good work

He turned out great, and that for a day's work! Wow... I'd like to see just a wee bit more highlighting on his cloak....

About Lotr, I don't like the game but think there are some nice mini's amongst the line. I also read the books when I was about 11/12 years old but went to see the movies with an unbiased view...

I like the movies a lot! The visuals are great and I do like most of the actors involved in the project. I think Peter jackson did an amazing job in turning this mammoth task into something good, so hats off to him! :D

as guys said - nice piece of mini (it was predictible in Your case :D )
and about the movie - I also read the book for the first time when I was about 12... but I didn't suspect it was such colourful tale like I saw in the movie;
