btw I don't get how Orteza's amazing dreadnought placed third... IMHO it's the best of the three dreads.
like a friend of mine said: GD's are all politics....

That question and a few others got raised. . .
Warhammer fantasy single though was a very tough one and Terry got a well deserved silver!!!!!!

Overall, I'm not really impressed... Some miniatures are outstanding ( The Halfling from the staff category comes to mind!) but I was expecting more than this honestly. Also the pics are very bad in my opinion!

after seeing the entries in chicage last year I was expecting much more than this actually ... imho the average quality is only medium, with a few very nice exceptions.

What can i say ..... disappointing, just disappointing ....
Somehow all US-gamesdays weren´t that good this year. I really think they just have too much gamesdays to keep the overall quality on the highest level.
To be true i´m not so sure about the slayerdiorama. Sure it is nice from distance, but have you seen the closeups? Okay they are 4times the size of the miniature, but even with that size in mind the blending is not so good. I really love the troll and the swamp, but the closeups are a bit shocking. Anotherthing is, that i like the spacehulk duell much more, looks way more interesting and was more work for the painter 2.
I don´t understand the Orteza thing. He´s always downvoted over the last 2 years. His style (aka greenstuffslapping) is a thing of personal taste, but this cybot is really impressive and imaginative. He should have won the 40k vehicle thing, but that´s the political thing ... let others win so the GD is more attractive to new visitors, sad but true.
Some winners are just strange ..... the great unclean one, morghur, the bretonian in fantasy single (there´s no colour concept or composition for this mini and the banner is just bad composed).
I really hope the german GD will show how such a competition should look like .... and if it won´t show it, the UK-GD will
