Re: Arctica's Pirate Crew !
So i managed to paint alot more of him last night, almost finished his gun and worked on the shoulder pad. I am really enjoying this mini so much, the features are really fun to paint.

Im going to paint the squig red and hopefully finish off the gun and other shoulder pad tonight. Then i have a load of details on his back to do, his back banner and the items/ammo on the back of his belt.

Re: Arctica's Pirate Crew !
wow, he's great. that's what I always wanted - an army/warband painted to this standard. I'm getting envious and start considering increasing my army quality. I can't change my plan though as I will not finish my army yet again...
If I was to nitpick on your piece - hands are more flat than face/arms. try to increase contrast between shadows and highlights just as you did in other places.

Artica your pirate orks are simply wonderful! very good quality I quite short time. Have you considered painting then 3-4 in batch?
@Namless when you finish your eldar in lower quality, then think of something new in a better one

Re: Arctica's Pirate Crew !
Thanks for the comments guys, i want to keep this a really high quality as there are only 10 models to the crew. Im not going to do it as a batch because they are here to break up my monotonous army painting. So it makes for a nice break in between units etc.
Im definately enjoying painting the mini and i agree with Nameless about the hands, i still need to add a couple more highlights to the knuckles and darken it in places under the fingers, but progress is good and im having fun.

Should be able to finish this one soon in the next couple days. Im tempted to do a tattoo on the arm with the squig on it, so im thinking a dark muted blue colour for the tattoo. Not sure what image yet, possibly an orkish skull and crossbones. However, the model is busy enough at the moment so i have to think about it.

Re: Arctica's Pirate Crew !
One down 9 more to go
going to paint a couple of world eaters then move onto the next ork. The ork models are really fun to paint actually and i have enjoyed this one from start till finish. Plus because im working from a white undercoat and midtones then adding shades and highlights, im learning alot about how to blend a bit more and developing a style more to my own. The photos are kind of getting better but i still need to get a second photo, so apologies for that
Stay tuned for more landlubbers !
