freakin' machine...
I'm amazed by your pace and quality Gareth, as usual. I'm not too fond of the colour scheme though. Yellow is too bright, that has already been risen here by others. The other thing is that it draws too much attention and makes other parts of minis less visible.

It's personal taste. Personally I absolutely love them. Bright yellow is my favourite colour. And I disagree about it draws too much. I've tended to use yellow around faces on shoulders, hats or masks... faces are a focal point right?
Not too mention, this is an army. I'm painting the entire unit as a composition, not individual minis.
The yellow makes them pop, and I love it. Don't see what the problem is.

problem? I can't see any problem either. I just stated my opinion.

I am not too fond of that bright yellows, too, but I agree that painting an army is a different thing than painting a single model.
The army should be perceived as one whole thing, with particular minis or units seen as parts of it - just like you think about parts of a miniature in case of a single model.

This is the completed second rank pic.

Over the weekend, I completed the 3rd rank of black orcs as well (pic tomorrow), not bad consideriing most of saturday I was stripping down a mountain bike and then celebrating my sister's birthday.
10 weeks into this project and enthusiasm is starting to run dry. In this time I've painted 92 models for this force. Including the 25 I painted last year, I'm yet to hit 1500pts, how demoralising is that.
With 10 black orcs remaining, I'm going to persevere. It should be a real treat to paint the rock lobba, doom diver and chariot next. Just need to concentrate and stop buying nids. ;D

Blasphemy, you cannot ever have enough bugs.
Finish up those cool orcs and get back to the bugways.

lol Gareth keep going

i managed to paint 90 goblins in 2 months and thought hmm i've only got like 300 pts

so keep going you'll be happy with it in the end. But if you are struggling like i often am, change what you're painting, do a one off model completely unrelated to your orcs, that might help.
