Re: Elfboy - 30th Oct Eldar War Walker

Post by Elfboy »

An update on one of the War Walker's I have for my regular Eldar army. My original colour scheme was cream and crimson, but I've gone off that after discovering this colour scheme which is a lot more striking and more in keeping with Eldar. I've done everything but the base, pilot and pilot's chair here. I've done a bit of freehand in the form of two tiny yin-yang symbols (that's old school 'Eavy Metal Eldar right there) and I'm still working on ideas for the legs. I have a notion of using some blue interference paint and some ghost lines in a cross-hatch or crystal pattern on the blue of the legs, the antennae and the weapon shields (not fitted here).

If I get another night to work on stuff I'll have this finished pretty soon. This new colour scheme is so much easier and looks so much better than my old colour scheme, so I'm definitely sticking with it.

Comments & critique welcome, I'm wanting to improve. This isn't a show-quality paint job, but I am interested to know what people think of the fades and my paint consistency, they're both sticking points for me lately.

fading effect looks very good for an army quality. Some glazing would be welcome if you wanted to take it to showcase quality, as some transitions are bit abrupt.
I'm sure this will work great on a gaming table, and colour scheme is striking indeed.

knees and below - EXCELLENT! smooth transitions, no rough paint...
could only benefit from some stronger shadows on the bottom parts of the parts. like under the calves - just under the edge where the highlight is strongest, I would like to see the bottom part in shadow...

I posted this and it disappeared, very odd.

I've been a busy bunny, here's a Noise Marine Hot Rod Hearse I'm working on. Lots still to do.

Tonight I put together this, the Monster Trike, it has even more work than the hearse to do but it should be worth it.

I've got a V8 engine from a larger kit I'm toying with wrapping around the bike engine, but we'll see what happens with that idea, and I need to modify a gun for the gunner.

Re: Elfboy - 6th Nov. Harlequin Fire Prism interior

I must punish myself with tiny things, it would appear. For some reason, I thought it would be a good idea to have a mural of the Laughing God symbolically represent within the webway painted on the interior of this Fire Prism. With hindsight I should have painted the design on paper and glued it in to the interior instead of trying to get a brush in there.

Mad, I tell you, I'm absolutely mad. Inspiration for the face came from the old Harlequin Jetbike canopies.

Re: Elfboy - 13th Nov. Hasslefree Oberon

I'm no longer a Hasslefree virgin!

Really pleased with how this guy is coming along so far, only painted his bottom half so far and the front of his torso. Not entirely happy with his eyes (painted like those of a deer, but too tiny to see) so I might change those but we'll see how it looks when I finish his face.

Still got to paint his back, arms, head, antlers and maybe get some oak leaves for his base. Bent his antlers into a better shape than originally supplied too.

His colours are based on those of a Roebuck, also known as a Red Deer, rather than going the more traditional fantasy route with him.

Critique and comments welcome, hopefully I'm improving.

so far so good :)
I'd glaze a torso with some brown / leather color to unify it with the whole model :)
