England. Oh, not going to do the traditional "England will win!! WOOO YAYAYA!!" thing, we won't. I think we'll possibly get to the quarter finals, if we are lucky. But at least the last sixteen, especially now Rooney seems back in action. :D Don't you just love him?

As to winners, I'd say Brazil.

and they had always had experienced team, which is not really the case this year ;) They have a very easy group (Ecuador, Costarica, Poland), but we'll see what will happen after.

KU, I believe England will win their group. As I also presume, that Poland will place second after Germany - our teams will meet soon :) Pity we won't win that game :(
As for Rooney - with all due respect to his enormous talent and skills - he's primitive (as a human being, not footballer). Thus - no, I don't love him. Hope, that my opinion does not offend you, KU. I know that he is very popular in your country.

Yes, Germany have now a team which is not 100% popular even among germans. There have been a lot of discussions and scandals around them and their trainer (here the main problem was that he lives in the US and works in Germany, which is indeed a bit odd).
Furthermore Ballack, the key figure of the team has some health problems (knee, if I'm not mistaken), not participating in trainings, it is not even sure he will play against Costa Rica.
We'll see...

Nameless - I agree that Rooney isn't going to win any spelling competitions but frankly if he can play like we all know he can - I don't care. He's popular here only when playing for England and because he is one of our best players in the country.

I do hope that you come second and we win our group, I'd prefer not to face Germany in the first knockout game. As much fun as it would be, I don't think that playing them would be good for us. Save Germany for later stages. ;)

KU, I didn't mean his education, but overall behaviour. I agree that Rooney is one of the best players - not only in England. This does not mean that I have to like him :)
btw, you seem quite convinced that your team would win with our. Hmm, I wonder why :?

:curtain: just wanted to add my voice to the discussion:
I don't like watching sport, moreover - I hate football...
I simply don't get "championship atmosphere" - I prefer sleeping instead of watching football :)

Actually his behaviour has improved a fair bit, sure he still flares but he is much better and calmer. If he keeps it up he'll be one of the top footballer players in the world in no time and of course you don't have to like him. But worship him. ;)

Well England vs Poland could be a good match, it would all depend on how we perform on the day - we either do good or damned bad. Such is the English way *shrugs*

@ToMaZ: I don't need to watch at our pathetic team running helplessly on football pitch to cheer, drink beer, sing songs and have fun...
