Hmm, I believ the face is sculpted as relief on the banner and that is why it appears different from many angles. (?)

Even if the face was a relief on the banner it wouldn't look like this. Compare the first and the third pic.
I don't think a sculpted relief can look so different with such a small change of the angle unless the sculpt would be stretched. But if it were streched it would look bad on other angles and it doesn't.
I think he found a way to work a 3D image into the banner. You know those postcards where the image changes depending on what angle you look at it? Something like that, but on a smaller scale maybe...

I was originally checking eyes only, not the whole face

you're absolutely right ToMaZ

anyway, don't ask for theory or tutorial, but such effect is surely not the new one. I think that Mona Lisa is always looking at the viewer, no matter what the angle. This of course does not make Olivier's work less impressive. I can only

That's what I was thinking too. And it's not only the Mona Lisa (but I think she was the first), pictures have it too when a person is photographed while looking directly in the lens (better seen on big pictures)
It's all very impressive indeed, and it really got me wondering on how he achieved that

I really like jarhead's eldar model

i think it looks awesome but i have to admit the top of the ruffle/hair bit looks a bit unfinished.
I like the scratchbuilt duel thingy too, the detail is really good.
