I was thinking about some dark brown with a hint of green in the deepest cracks. A hint of green because the colour is reddish and that would make the shades deeper.

What's the stuff you used beneath the slate?

Ehhr.. I think they call that Polyfilla. (Allesvuller) Stuff to fill gaps in walls prior to paintingthem. It has a nice texture and isn't hard to work with. Plus it dries pretty fast.
You might want to drip some thinned PVA glue over it after it dries though, because it won't really stick if the surface you applied it on is too smooth.

Ja dat spul. Maar je hebt ook gladde versies daarvan en die moet je niet hebben. Die wat ik heb kost iets van een ?5, voor een potje van een paar honderd gram.
