That's very nice Scott!
I agree with marek about the silver lines, mayne even add some with a pencil like they use on sclae kit tanks and such? Think it might be a nice effect here. Also the metallics on the gun seem abit lower level than the rest of the fig, could use a little more love Imho.
Scott Radom's stuff.

I tried to use a lot of what I was shown here on painting a better face on this mini. This is my seond time painting this fig (Hopefully an improvement!) and I really dig it. It comes in a 3 pack of pretty nice mini's I think for 22$ CDN. Who says GW is all evil? Please fire away and crit's or comments. I've been getting great advice here and hopefully I'm using the tips I get to paint better mini's. I'm enjoying painting a lot more EVEN with the added time it's taking now. Thsi guy was probably near on 15-20hrs which is a lot for me. Again, I crave the hard hitting straight stuff when it comes to advice. I really do appreciate it, so don't hold back! Thanks gang.

woah - really like the suit: turned out so smooth!
I think you yould give the boots some stronger shine: it's the high rank officer after all!

Yeee.. i see difrence
a realy good part is coat thumbs up for that
skin is good to but i would sey it could benefit from iven more added hues - look carfuly at works of clasic painters (or good ones from digital) how nemy hues are hiden in flesh a green , red , blue end all mices of thous as purple end so on + as usual skin colors
(or check my "toilet Avenger" - you paint him as "CAN-adian!" - it is iven over done in colors but .. it will gave you a clue )
Reds - moderate - to "oily" duno why fotr me they lacks a "sparkly" finish
BAD - Boots
compaded co coat this is faaaar behind
chers

Re: Scott Radom's stuff.
the best part is definitely the uniform. smooth, interesting, well painted.
the face is next - could be better with more dramatic highlights but it's pretty decent now.
the boots look as if time or patience was running out or maybe you had no concept for this part of the model
yeah, there are some reds too, but they're so uninteresting that they only get mentioned last.
what was it? lack of ideas, lack of skill, or maybe achieving your goals and feeling like getting the model finished ASAP then?

Re: Scott Radom's stuff.
Thanks guys -
Maru, I'll check out your toilet avenger. Do you have a link?
Boots, clearly a weak part. Not really sure what to do on an area like that. I had highlights on most of the folds up to a space wolves grey (like on the very cuff where the boots meet the pants) but I thought it looked over done. More practice needed in this area for sure. Thanks for the feedback!
The reds... well... I WAS proud of them, especially on the cuffs and such. I thought I had achieved a decent amount of contrast going from pretty dark up to pure bronzed flesh. What should I do to improve the reds next time? Smoother, more contrast, different colour choices?
The face. I'll check out some more examples of skin. The brightest highlight is pure menoth white highlight on the chin and nose. Should I have brought other areas up to that extreme level?
Thanks guys! Great feedback. Really helps me push forward. Thansk Maru for posting the last time I painted that mini. I think it was from around a year ago. Any improvement from then till now is from the good advice I get from other painters online. Love the feedback gang! Thanks again.
