I liked every mini made by this company, especially Al Vienna :P. Till now.
I don't see anything special in last three models. They are still good realization(details) but lack good design and concept. Just a mediocre models like hundreds others.

I wonder why every miniature making company wants to have their own game system? Tale of war, Wyrd, Mantic, Merc minis and others. I understand the simple thought that shows in company owners minds: "they (gamers) will buy system and then will want to buy a lots of models, our models" (after which an evil-genius-laugh is heard). But I think they should learn by now, from several bankruptcy examples, that games selling business is something completely different than just mini selling business.

Some companies need a game to sell their figures. But manufacturers like Freebooter and McVey have miniatures which are so good that they sell themselves.

THese aren't the most original figures, but I think there's still some room in the high-quality SF market, which Infinity seems to dominate, together with some smaller lines (Mercs, ...)

Well, I think some miniatures are obviously made with gamers in mind (simpler, more standardized, often cheaper), even though some painters will still buy them.
Some minis are made for painters but some gamers still buy them...

Mantic Games stuff seems to be made for gamers, earlier Studio McVey stuff - for painters.
I think Studio McVey can do fine with their new range, but I'd prefer them to stick to their initial kind of minis. Don't know if they sell well enough to justify the effort and investment...

Hm... First time Im not sure what to think of a Studio McVey Mini...
I would prefer some more of their awesome "Limited edition" Minis...
Anyway, for gamers probably alright. I wont buy them though.

Yet freebooter just released a game and its making minis for it and Mcvey is walking in that direction.

Like Mahon said its a question of profitability and believe me when I say that, except for the big names, its ussually a low profit margin business... thats why a small investement in rules and one printed book or pdf can boost sales, its like taking all the obvious steps towards making the product ( minis) more profitable.

yeah, Navarro. people often tend to forget that what is a hobby for some is a job for others. and while I appreciate what the McVeys are doing and the stuff they are releasing - I realize they need to make money...

I remember one of Polish musicians had a contract that every second record can be less-commercial, but the remaining ones need to be more commercially-oriented. this way she could record what she wanted and still earn some money for the company (and to pay the bills).

If the decision to start the gaming system will allow McVeys to keep releasing the cool stuff and to remain in the miniature business - I am all for it!
