I totally agree that all (or at least most) 'fantasy' manufacturers don't follow correct anatomy or body proportions very strictly. Not a problem for me personally.

But, some people are not as tolerant and expect true or realistic proportions and anatomy. Can't blame them either. To each their own, I guess.

Great scales comparsion! Thanks NAVARRO :)

I agree that Miniatures are usualy in so called "heroic" scale. And it's not a problem for me too. Heroic scale means - people look like heroes - they are higher, have more muscles. Some miniatures have enormous muscles just like Hulk :D

But you can't forget about anatomy structures: bones, muscles, skin - the way they all work and move. Even if you sculpt an alien, you should create him (in most cases) in such a way, that his anatomy looks possible to obtain.

So my opinion is that scultpting a mini in some different proportions (e.g heroic scale) doesn't allow you to do mistakes. Mistakes like these which I tried to show on the photo. Blue is more or less a skellet and green circles show mistakes (in my opinion)

People don't have arms so high. It's like monkey anatomy. Even if it's a sculpt made in heroic scale, it's a human. So it's a mistake for me.

Another thing is that there is to long area between his legs. I don't know what kind of hips he needs to have to be in such a position. So for me it's also a kind of mistake. People have different anatomy of legs. His legs look like this robot's legs:

While looking on this PP mini I just can't imagine how is ot possible that there is a human inside this armour. I'm not a master of anatomy so please correct me if I'm wrong.

I know where your coming from mate I don't disagree that this makes little sense if the context is just finding one anatomic credible miniature. :)

The exaggeration is nuts, impossible in real life but makes total sense in PP universe or superhero comics, see my point? Its the balance between credible body/cartoon distortion you may even call it caricature.

BTW love orangutang pic :D

And coming back to anatomy, maybe it's really just a matter of sence? Or rather a metter of what you are looking for in minis world. For me (a collector/painter/sculptor) anatomy is improtant. I think that this comic/superhero style may be achaived without so big anatomy anomalies. And if it may be done it such a way, that way would be a lot better one.

Many people (e.g many players) who don't care about anatomy issues may just not see these anatomy anomalies. Some time ago (quite a long time) when I start playing GW games I had no problems with GW terminators minis at all. When I start to be a collector/painter and get some anatomy knowlage, terminator anatomy became so ugly and unatural for me. What I want to say is that: what you see and how you judge it, depends strongly on your own perspective (which consists of knowladge and many many more things).
