you're quite adept at slapping paint on and getting it to look good, I'd say. Loads of really nice details on this, especially the graffiti and the details on the Arriva carriage. Looking forward to seeing the finished piece and more progress shots.
Re: Dark's WIP Updated
ok it had to be hella fun to make that graffiti. looking great so far very interested in the colors for the people and beasts.
If it wasn't for the gutter my mind would be homeless.

thanks for the feedback, oh and axe guy is doin the old am pretending to look over here but really am gunna smack you on the head with this pointy thing
maybe he needs twisting around a little...
as for the led/osl idea ill prob exaggerate the zenithal lighting inside the tunnel, i want to try to avoid a sorta cartoony look so ill just use alot of contrast and make some shadows on the floor to hopefully sell the effect

Hi everyone, its been a little while since i updated my wip and since i had my camera out taking pics for the little angels comp i thought id post some updates
Squiggy Races
the jockey has had alot done since my last update, he is largely finished, i just need to finish off his feet and sculpt the other fingers, started painting the ground work on the base, i think it needs alot more contrast, so am gunna come back with some washes after iv painted the road bricks

Hasslefree dio is sorta chuggin along, got alot of the base work done, started on Mckenzie, kinda stuck on the colour to paint the body armour and such, irl ud think it be black but then it lacks contrast and definition :squigglemouth:

Another ice experiment, not sure if the base fits with the viking, the scene doesnt seem natural to me, i think a small fantasy mini would fit better

Re: Dark's WIP Updated
some cool stuff, Dark.
as for the ice dio - I suppose it could be used for both fantasy and historical minis. but, for now it looks like water, not ice. that's because it's equally transparent from the surface to the bottom. it looks unnatural to me, as water rarely frozens to the reservoir bottom

i agree, the base doesnt quite feel natrual to me, thats why i was thinking it be more suited to fantasy. i think i should be able to make the bottom more transparent with a little bit of sanding, unfortunately the ice on top doesnt come across in the pics, theirs more variation in the opacity irl.Nameless wrote:some cool stuff, Dark.

I really enjoy looking at your work. I love how you set up your dioramas...very detailed and very characterful.
Can't wait for the completion of your projects
Keep it up

Hi Dark!
I've got a suggestion to help you with your ice. Try mixing a little bit (and I mean a super tiny amount) of either Vallejo metallic medium or one of the Vallejo model air metallics (I like their aluminum) into your resin or water effects medium. Done sparingly enough it gives a nice icy, frosted look. It looks best if you do the first pour plain and add the metallic to the last shallow pour or brush it onto the top surface of cured resin. Just make sure you leave the sides plain so you can see the strata. Then apply your snow.
Give it a try!

Re: Dark's WIP Updated
No, I sure don't. Sorry! It was something I was just playing around with so I never put a mini on it. Eventually it ended up being just another piece of clutter on my Shelf o Shame and I finally pitched it. I only took pics of my ocean base.
It came out pretty cool though. The metal flake was so sparse that it gave the illusion of crystalized ice. You gotta be sure your flake is very finely ground though... That's why I suggested the Model Air. If you have any resin left over that you don't mind playing with you should test it out on a hunk of scrap wood.
Laters,
Jen
