Without background looks nicer - nothing distracts so much, and therefore the shadow makes a perspective for viewing mini...

But about minis in all:

Templar
Good job overall. The dirst on the cape is very realistic. I like all the wood stuff all around, but the ground look too artificial for me. For me it could me more muddy and darker (the dirt must came from somewhere, right?). Clothes and metallic parts looks nice, but one thing (or two) are lowering my rate - the freehanded crosses. They are blurry, not symetrical, and badly placed... Sorry, but besides that everythig look great!

Goblin Chariot
I love the wood. It`s realistic, and fit well there. Personally I would add more tints to the wolves fur, now they are a bit boring, and too snowy for this green base. Goblins are executed in a good way, but on the other hand the standard doesn`t fit into my vision of greenskins war colors. Maybe the conotation with polish aircraft red pattern-check is too strong for me?

All in all you are making great improvements and I`m happy to see your works in next year!

cheers,
Sz.

yeah, I also think that plain white background would look better than the patches you used for Grom

Nameless in 2009 - summary

Post by Nameless »

2009 is over... and it was a good year for me, at least when it comes to painting :)
it's time to make some kind of a summary I think.

What were my goals for 2009?

Code: Select all

Move as many minis from my Hall of Shame..

Code: Select all

to my Hall of Fame...

I see 8 minis from the first pic that are now painted. not bad.

Code: Select all

First of all I want to finish minis that I've already started, including some that I promised to paint for my friends. As quick as possible - even with loss in quality.

did this only partially. need to work on this more in 2010.

Code: Select all

Furthermore, I want to continue with my quest to paint minis from different companies. These will be for my own collection.
companies:
GW - 4, Reaper - 3, infinity - 3 (1 dio), andrea - 1, romeo - 1, hasslefree - 1, heresy - 1, ilyad - 1, SMM - 1, grindhouse - 1, demonworld - 2 + 1 unit
darksword - 1, PP - 1
genres:
fantasy - 15, sf - 3 (dio), weird war - 1, modern - 2, historical - 1
scales:
28-35 mainly, 2x54mm, demonworld 15mm, big Scibor's bust.

Variety achieved :) few new companies in my painted collection now - romeo, SMM, heresy, grindhouse, gamezone, PP.

Code: Select all

I will paint single minis, but I have some plans to start few bigger projects.
fail. unless we call 2 small dios or big scale bust bigger projects.

Code: Select all

Anything else? Sure, I wanna get 8.0 on CMON and place in some painting competition
8.0 and 8.2 are my best notes :) 3 second places in comps :)

and that's it, folks. thanks for checking this thread. Just two pics to finish my summary

My Hall of Fame looks like this at the end of 2009:

and a small teaser for 2010. Stay tuned ;)

I wish I had such a great showcase and such success to boast about!

Congratulations. Reading this summary was at least as exciting as following the progress throughout the year...
Good luck for 2010!

It's really good to see the hall of fame increasing :) Your hall of shame isn't too bad ;) im sure mine is worse lol. Plus as Szary has mentioned the quality is improving with each one. I think if you put your earliest piece next to your latest piece you'd be happy with your progress.
