that reason is good enough for me
but when the contest is over and there's no deadline, why don't you try to do something like this?

Perhaps the man just came home from a long day at work and hasn't settled in yet.

avatar is too orangey for my taste. I'd glaze it with reds (it's up to you though) and then follow Demi's advice re highlights.
Metallics need more depth. Also, I'd consider using non-metallic colours for this model - it is unearthly creature after all. perhaps bone colours - that would fit the eldar fluff?
marine - it looks like highlighting on the cloak is not covering base layers properly, like you stippled it (is that the proper word for it?).

lot of painting on another project tonight but did some highlight work on the back, I have to smooth out the lover rib one. Some glazes on the cape to take roughness out of the stimpling so I can do some other highlights.

nothing I am doing is really fixing the cape. I am going to leave it how it is, maybe put a white trim design to it for freehand practice but as it is a model that will see table use I am going to let the cape go as is.

blacks ain't bad, but the gems are really good! they're my favorite part of this model.
what seems to be wrong about the cape (in my opinion) is the fact it really lacks more shading. it should go into even more desaturated blue - probably with some black added....

Thanks Mahon the previous avatar gave me a lot of practice in gems. I better get use to it with the eldar army I am building.
