I think the paintjob of Gorax lacks the color to give him the look of the artwork. The demonic aspect of the picture in the book is completely lost on the sculpt...

wow, excellent artwork!
I think the miniature may be quite similar, but it surely doesn't have the savage viciousness of the character portrayed on the artwork. maybe it's the sculptor's fault or maybe painter's...

I am really confused here. Maybe it's one of these characters which don't 'translate' well from a 2D painting into a 3D miniature?

to me it is still:
2d: great, full of character, brutal, aggressive, feral, vicious
3d: goofy, rubber-monster looking, maybe cute. definitely muscular but not that brutal

And the paintjob on that Menoth (?) guy posted by Gerrie is actually nice. I think the model is not that bad with this paintjob. So did they fail to present their model well again?

to me (as a collector, not a gamer) it could be a sold/not sold decision making factor...

Gorax has all the characteristics of the 28mm shrinkage... bigger head and that changes a lot... also legs had to be reduced ( again sculptor choice) The way I see it sculptor started with head then did the body and had to make body smaller and legs a lot smaller to acommodate the tiny miniature scale... But I may be wrong :D

Like all tiny minis I espect a deal of acommodation and this IMO did that just fine.

one thing is sure: having seen the artwork now, I must admit the mini is very faithful to the original! but somehow it doesn't carry the same personality the original artwork has. but I tend to agree with Corvus that a great paintjob could make a world of difference. it may be the style and choice of colors that makes it look like a rubbery monster

you are right about the proportions though - maybe it's another thing which makes him look less scary.

The mini is very close to the artwork, dont forget that a subtle change of the color can give a very diferent look, for example using a mini, if you give strong shadows from bellow it will look evil and so on, so i say good work do i say not a mini for me
