that's because he's a menite, they all have these ridiculous headgear
The caps are really the menoth style. And since he's a Paladin, they have to keep him in line with the previous paladin, who has the same type of cap.

They definitly look suitably scary but painting all of that armour to a nice standard is a bit out of my league. . .
