Well, when I said that the "rules" would be lighter than the actual IP ones, the 2 weeks deadline was my first goal, cause considering the one we would set for the CofC members would be done for fun mostly, having it done in 2 weeks is just insane. 3weeks, or even 4 (though it would then last quite long) would definitely be better :)

The idea of a painting league is nice, cause peeps can paint all the time, though, it's kinda like the ToG, unless we set some kind of "deadline" to take part to the next step for the vote to determine who's the "champion" BUT, everyone would still be able to take part ot the whole event with in the end, ONE BIG deadline that would declare the "champion" and the end of the event :)

About the theme picking + vote, what would be nice is: pick some theme, make a poll on forum for one week with various choice and after a week see which one wins. Then peeps could start painting for some time (say 3 weeks) but the nice part is that they would have had a whole week to start thinking on the themes which would let them paint for the whole delay on the winning theme and not working on an idea and building it like it's in the IP contest. Dunno if i'm clear on that point

Understood :)
I wonder if we would have any problems with sponsors? There are some users from companies that post their releases here themselves (Scibor, MaxMini, Ramshackle Games, Torgaming, Vesper-on Games -producers of Carnevale ). If we agree on the rules I could ask them :D

Just a thought but maybe to start things off and try things out it might be a good idea to start with 'just' a single painting competition? Say a Red Box Games theme (Tre's on here too) or one of the other companies you already mentioned? I think a trial like this would let you ease into anything we come up with later and Imo it's better to start something small first. :)

general point for you all to consider - either make a standard (more or less) contest with longer deadline, or "IP" with short deadlines. imagine few rounds of "IP", each lasting 1 month...

My initial thought was to give three weeks for the deadline, maybe it'll be long enough for everyone and "short" enough to not have the event lasting for 6 months (depending on what kind of event we're going for :) )

I voted yes, just for the fun of it. I don't think my level is a match for most of you guys here, especially because I can be pretty slow achieving my best results.

This would also require the participants to make photos themselves, right? (I'm currently without any decent camera, but this should change in the near future)

Some thoughts directly taken from the IP rules but "adapted" to be lighter than the real IP rules:
  • - randomy paired players
    - chosen theme from a selection of various ones. Chosen one will be the result of a poll lasting one week
    - three weeks to work on a project:
    • - a complete new UNPAINTED mini
      - can even be a sculpted one not especially one from a brand
    - judging will be done by members of the CofC forum with maybe like for the ME some requirements (numbers of posts for example)
    • - notes will go that way:
      • Use of THEME INGREDIENT.......x/x points
        Overall Quality/difficulty.................x/x points
        Overall Aspect/Ambiance.............x/x points
      - in case of same score, the person with the highest score in theme will win
      - in case of same score and same score in theme, coin will be flipped
    - possible of a second chance rank
    - if some weird numbers that can't be paired up, one player will be randomly getting a free pass for next round
Soo, this is some ideas, nothing set in stones, but it's to be able to start discussing a bit more on something more concrete :)

what you have suggested is basically a copy of IP rules.
