I have a tutorial written where I painted the cloak with this technique on one of my historical figures. Pigments can't be used in every situation, but you'll be surprised what you can do with them. They're great for cloaks or other types of long flowing clothing. The FW dragon I'm painting is so textured and so packed with detail, they're not good for something like that. Mild texture, like short fur, is perfectly fine. They work on armor and as long as you seal properly they can stand up to intense washing techniques.
I'll see if I can dig up the tutorial and the photos and post 'em.

dragon foto is clear of noises (but litle off focus 
) Horse is a little noisy but not enught to change over all photo effect - not at this scale 
so dragon started from gold end will end as ??

yeah, this is a question I'd like to see answered: where are you heading with the dragon? any rought concept for the model?
