by adding the green it looks a bit out of place to me
Of course your opinion matters, I take all comments into consideration. I suppose it does look out of place, but then I don't want the weapons to blend into his armour/cloak like I'd presume a red or blue blade would. Also green can have a good effect, I'm just not good enough yet to blend properly.

I agree with Ian: A bright and highlighted blue or red weapon would be better IMHO

Mahon - True. Thinking about it green may not be the best, but as I said I'll get some practice blending in and learn the technique. Afterwards I'll try a few colours to see which I like best, it always was a choice between red or green.

Anyways...

Another update. This time the backpack and shoulder pads are done. The blue and cream were done the exact same way as usual so nothing special there.

The Crux Terminatus was taken a slight shade higher in hopes of it standing out a bit, also the shading was left quite dark around the icon itself. The same goes for the scroll and small circle on the other pad, the circle was then quartered as the sign of the commander's heladry. The writing was done by hand with watered down chaos black. To finish the chapter icon was added, a small transfer.

In the following pic you'll see black background, this is an attempt to make better pics for viewing. I hope this works ok.

as it was typed: You can try to highlight calws a bit more - after varnishig soft highlights may fade out;
so far it looks really nice - clean and careful painting is the key to success :wink: but if I were You I'd add some weathering at the end - to would make it the commander look more real (that's just a suggestion of course :wink: )

Yeah, the claws are kinda an inbetween look. Once I've practiced blending and gotten good enough with that I'll return and see what I can do.

As to the weathering, nice idea. Would it be the same as on a vehicle? Black then with silver leaving a black outline? Any more ideas on weathering effects?

I now need more help and no it's not the lightning claw. :P This time it's heads. Five to be exact. I knocked up five versions in different colours to see which I liked the best or worked the best, I'm unsure so I'd like your opinion.

Please note that the chosen head will be the same on all veterans/veteran sergeants/commanders. Basically this head is the veteran status head.

Thanks.

I'd go for the bone without stripes.

Thanks. The only think abaout that is it's the same as the normal marines heads, so to distungish the vet/serg I'd still have to do something else. I have had the suggestion of the blue as it compliments with the armour, I'm tempted but I'm quite partical to either the red or the striped heads. I need more comments and time.
