@ demi and mahon and everyone

I would like to ask the opinion about the background. Some ppl, eg GW official? like to use white background as it seems to provide a clean, unique and standardized atmosphere, esp if showing a large number of models.

Given that my humble little site is going to be dark grey as the main color, guys, I really have a hard time to choose the background colors. Pls kindly give me some advices?

Of course, I think that printed blur color background form mahon, demi and some other ppl here are very very nice.

imo white bg is just striking - it distracts attention from model itself :)
but dark one (not necessary very dark) is pleasant to watch at and if you choose color which matches the painthjob you can create very nice atmosphere of whole work :)

I'm also not a big fan of the white backgrounds. I prefer a neutral background or the blue gradient. I'd really like to get the one that Mahon is using. :-p

Hi Mahon and other dear folks,

I am working on my tyranids army recently, so, haha, did not come to visit the forum too oftenly lately.

Mahon,

I wonder how many lights do you put in your miniature photo shooting setting? and the placements of the lights? Thanks a lot for your tips.

HOSEA HERE  wow, that was quite surprising....

as for my lighting setup, I tend to use three variants:
1. favorite: daylight only, no lamps
2. quick: one lamp in front of the mini, slightly above - it has a long lightbulb so it gives good directional light.
3. rarely used: 2-3 lamps: two long ones on the sides, slightly before and above the mini. the last one above the camera.

remember to diffuse the light when using lamps.
