Alright guys lets see how i did.

As you mentioned before Mahon I would like the worst.

I did not touch the backpack, left it as a point of crappiness reference.

My fear now is i may have darkened up the extreme maybe a little to much, the pictures darken it up a hair more than it is in person. Anyways I think I have a feel for the style. I am experimenting on the blues now, finding the right color to glaze with seems to be the key.

I went a step further and brought the extreme highlight back. Of course the battery went dead in my camera. I will get the update tomorrow. The V shape above the eyes on the helmet is still giving me problems, cant seem to get it to transition into the back of the helm. I think it just requires a much thinner line only at the tip of the V.

Anyways thanks again, cant learn it all in a day but i will keep trying!!!

yeah, that's the best of both worlds: sharp highlights on sharp edges + smooth blending

Tried to bring it back up to a white at the extreme. I am getting the feel but is definetly tricky. Actually proud of myself, as it to me doesnt look like a total peice at this extreme close up.

I know it looks like crap but I am learning not to panic. I plan on next to start blending up to the ice blue highlight. I will work on that tomorrow night. I know my guys look like they should be in tron but I like the look hehe.

Let me know what you think, thanks again for all of the advice, I appreciate it.

Its much much better now that you aren't rushing. Now to develop more contrast, altho your pictures aren't great (like mine

) they seem very dark and i think you are having the same problem as i have, with a lack of contrast in my painting. So you might want to try and atm your dark paint colours are good but you want to highlight it up further maybe all the way up to pure ice blue on the edges etc. Just bear in mind its very much to what suits the atmosphere of your model.

just one short remark - remember that you want to paint minis for gaming. They are usually watched from longer distance than showcase minis. To make them look good you need a strong contrast between shadows and highlights.

Grasping the concept and technique in such a very short time, shoaws that you were on your way already, so it is just practice, practice, practice time! Definite improvements displayed.
