Harlequin pictures are dark, but look good so far from what I can tell. I also like the idea on the fire prism scheme.
The red on the tank looks a bit streaky (I can still make out the brush strokes). You may want to water your paint down and use a lot of thin coats in order to build the color up. That will probably even it out.

The streaky red on the tank is only a rough first coat that I used to work out patterning. The only finished bit of red are those two darker bits on the left that had about 5 or 6 coats of paint to get them to that stage.

Makes sense, the finished parts look a lot better. Was a little hard for me to tell how thick the paint was from the photo.

Harlequin Update

Did some more work on those two Harlequin Troupers and on the Fire Prism.
This bit is now finished, happily. I've not made a start on the exhaust yet though.

This really shows that I'm repainting this model. The original paintjob is a bit rough in places, especially on the turret here, but I'm tidying it up as I go. I've just put down the base coat for the design in red, but I'm not entirely happy with it, needs something else.

Nice 3/4 view with the finished hull closest to you.

A top view. I've done the left hand side hull. The gemstones are a bit of a departure based on a 'starburst obsidian' gemstone I've got in one of my rings. Quite like it as an alternative for gemstones.

These two just need bases and varnish now. I'm going to go with a bright green flock, grass and some brown rocks I think, to contrast with their darker colour scheme.

I'm finally getting the hang of the photography and adjusting light levels afterwards, so you should be able to see some detail this time around.

The prism is

starting to look great. Left side is further than right, right?

Yep. Just basecoats on the right (apart from the grille). Lots of work still to do. Interior should be fun.
Harlequin Fire Prism update

Here we go with an update. I've nearly finished the upper hull of the Fire Prism now. I was reminded recently in a thread about tyranid carapace painting options that I actually still had some Cryla Interference Medium (blue, violet and green) so I finally had a way to get a burst of colour on the tank without compromising the design.

The keener eyed among you will no doubt notice the canopy. Previously, the canopy was painted so I took some acetone-free nail polish remover to it and carefully stripped off the paint (use very sparingly!). Then gave it a few goes over with a polishing wheel on my fake Dremel to clean it up before filing those annoying spars off. This takes bloody ages. When the canopy was nice and smooth I kept buffing to get rid of the minor fogging caused by the nail polish remover but could only go so far before I was compromising the plastic. The canopy now looks lumpy because there's a couple of coats of clear varnish waiting to be buffed when it's cured, this should cancel out a lot of the negative appearance. I will be using some blue Interference Medium on the canopy so it matches that part of the hull. I've got a new cockpit interior arriving soon so I'll be converting the pilot to a Harlequin when I've raided my bits box.
In future, I'll use unpainted canopies to do this, I plan to convert all of my Eldar vehicles to this configuration, it looks a lot cleaner.

I like the cockpit, it has a nice metallic sheen over it (could be the pics though) which makes it more Eldar-y.

Do you mean the clear canopy? If so, I suspec it's the pictures making it look metallic, I'm going to be buffing the clear plastic smooth today, which I hope goes without a hitch. The painted parts are metallic, they've got an irridescent paint glaze, effectively, which I'm going to keep as a theme on my Harlequin vehicles.

I am still working on my Harlequins, but I got distracted, once again, by Slaanesh ideas.
I'm building my Slaanesh army in an unconventional way, putting stuff together as inspiration and materials come to me. This guy is just the basic patchwork of parts, I've got to do the filling and minor sculpting to get him finished off.
Ingredients so far:
Dark Eldar plastic head
Space Marine torso (some chopping about to the arms and trimming of the shoulderpads)
Dark Eldar Talos blade
Tzeentch disc
Space Marine Dreadnaught powerfist hand
Epic Chaos Titan Torment Lash (I think? I'm not hugely knowledgable on Epic stuff)
He's supposed to have a lurching gait, moving along on those spindly mechanical tentacles. Perhaps he lost his legs in a battle, or perhaps he's REALLY into amputation and/or biomechanical integration.

I need to blend the moulding of the disc into his torso, tidy up those shoulders and shoulder pads and put some interesting scenery on the base. The blade on his back also needs a bit of tidying up to make it blend in a bit more organically with the rest of him.
