Hi,
here's an update. I've repainted the bags, the horse's cloak and the mage's cloak. Also I've started the wood.

Is it better with the shading now?
I must finish the edges of the wooden parts, as they lost the paint in some places and then I will start with enhancing the highlights on the horse's hair.

What are your suggestions at this stage?

yes, it does.

the whole model looks a bit too pale and too pastel to me. but others may like it.

Much better.
Good work on the wood so far :) The bag on the last pic looks very good too.

yep, the leather and wood are my favorites - probably because they're not as pale as the rest of the model...

Hi,
that would be probably the last wip-update. I've added the base and the apprentice. The horse's cloak is more blueish now, I think it looks better that way.

What can you suggest at this stage?

paintjob is smoother now but imo model still requires some more contrast

aye it still needs some contrast i think. the glowing effect you mentioned earlier is a bit hard to achieve...but you can support it by (instead of making the mage REALLY bright) making the horse and the dude in front of it darker, never forget that ;)

also the base - just like dioramas - shouldnt be made so "regular", now the rabble/ruined plates are absolutely parallel to the base corners...you should twist them a bit next time and place them at an angle to the base edge, that makes it look less artificial.

you know what it looks like? as it it was painted white and then washed with a few inks. the colors lack saturation and the model looks pale and boring because of this.
the general idea isn't bad, but the bags are painted in the same color as the wood, the mage's robe is too similar to the horse...

I think Trovarion said something very useful and it's a very good piece of advice. follow it and the effects should be much better!

Hi, thanks for your pieces of advice. I wanted to get the brightness effect, but what I finally got is something that looks like white+wash. That is not what I wanted it to be. Also the wood and leather were painted differently but the result is quite similar.

I think I have to make a break from this model, maybe a better idea will come into my mind later. For now I was working on it for over 2 weeks and the result qualifies it for total repainting :(

Thanks for help!
