congratz for you interview
can you possibly post pics so that they do not stretch the page so much?
I like gold nmm, silver is not that good though. Doesn't really look like metal.
Light Grey NMM
-GW foundation grey (cant remember the name)
-black ink watered down 1:1
-Darked foundation grey with some black paint
-Susequent additions of white to the mix until its white
Dark plates
-mix of aerocolour dark blue and vallejo matt black base colour
-small additions of white to the mix without making too much of a subtle change
Gold NMM
-scorched brown
-mix of scorched brown and bestial brown
-bestial brown
-small additions of aerocolour yellow
-addition of white to the mix
-finish with pure white
@nameless: i actually tend to agree and im thinking about changing the silver to have smoother but sharper changes from light to dark, i think thats the key im missing for my nmm, I do still need practice on those parts but thanks for the comments. Also with the pictures, they arent stretched i just got lazy and didnt trim the sides to show less wasted space. Thats the problem of having a large 22 inch wide screen, you take image size for granted, cos on my screen its not that big. lol
I will clean up the metal for sure i think, also im going to try for the first time ever to add a greenish glow to parts of the model. Never tried this technique so any advice or tips will be much appreciated. Or even examples.
Right i repainted all the grey areas, i think its looking alot better. I tried OSL on the base and parts of the legs and im not sure i did well with it, any comments would be greatly appreciated. Im in 2 minds at the moment one is that it doesn't look too bad but the other is saying i shouldn't do this technique until im a bit more sure of it.
Ok since im still thinking about this OSL on my defiler, i decided to move onto another model. Deneghra seemed like a nice one to move onto so i wanted to keep her having a dark feel, so i used toned down NMM on the armour plates and i will try and keep that effect throughout the model's armour. The skirt i wanted to it to be a dark colour but also a contrast to the rest of the model. I think it works really well, maybe the blending could be a bit smoother but nothing a nice wash could help.
Well i had more time to work on my Denny, so i tidied up the purple on her skirt and the skin tones. Then i continued with the NMM grey on her armour and added gold nmm trim to parts of her armour. Im quite happy with the model at the moment, need to add highlights to the blades on her backpack thingy and paint her weapon too. Shouldn't take me too much longer.
I ain't really a fan of this model, but I think you did the sculpt justice. The NMM looks eyecatching yet dark and sinister. The purples are dark but colorful. and the only things I can imagine they might only benefit are somer freehand patterns over the cloth or some bright, almost reflective highlights - sharp and bright.
The blades on her shoulders look unfinished in comparison to the rest of her NMM. The same seems to be going for the face, but the photo doesn't allow me to judge it correctly.
I hate the sculpt - I sold mine just after painting it to get deneghra's variant pose
as for painting I like nmm on legs and arms - I'm waiting to see nmm on a spear - we both know it's flat if you look from the model's side
@Mahon, with the blades on her back and shoulder i haven't finished the NMM yet its mostly base colour, i was too tired and i didnt want to ruin the model by painting when tired. The face i haven't finished at all, i wanted to add some more depth of colour to it and shading, but im not very good at skin tones, any advice on that would be helpful. I'd like to do some freehand patterning on the model, im thinking i might try a purple swirl on the cloak and blend it into the skirt.
@Demi, i haven't started the NMM on the weapon either i just put a base coat on it so i could get a feel for how i want to paint the spear. Im tempted to actually paint it gold to break up the grey colour of the model.
In general im quite surprised you don't like this sculpt cos i actually really like it, i prefer it much more over the variant and the epic one. Ah well personal preference will vary.
Well been busy glueing and cleaning up my khador boxed set. Omg they are the worse mold of any models i've ever had, spent a good 20 hours in total putting together the khador boxed set and preparing the bases and green stuffing everything together. Im glad i've finally gotten them done here's a quick sneak peek at them, but they're only primed.
Note behind them i also have a devastator but i figured i'd paint that without the arms on so i can get into the deeper areas, but im going to do a dry fit of the arms first so i know what position i want it in. But again the mold wasnt great so i had to recreate a big portion of the arm protection on the devastator using green stuff. Click to see full-sized image
Khador Total Time (21 hours)
For the Cryx i finally finished off Denny but im not happy with the blades on the back of her so i will go back to her another time to make her look a bit smoother. I decided to give her a golden spear too because she was really grey and i wanted to break up the colour. Click to see full-sized image Click to see full-sized image
I have started doing the bases on the warjacks for the Cryx. Trying to keep the industrial feel for the bases but then i thought i really want to paint a heavy warjack so i started working on the gold nmm on the slayer and im really happy with how it looks atm. Click to see full-sized image
