I was sure it was gd - but it's fine to be corrected :)
anyway there can be only one winner, others can only deal with it - with whining or without

She called it Russian GD, but we know there is no Russian GD. It must've been something like calling "Wojenny Mlot" a Polish GD.

lot of poor minis imo:/ slayer swordis nice job but not for this price.. I like this dark troll. look realy nice. check silver and bronze in 40k squads:/ I think we have better lv on our baziliszek or wojenny mlot. and I'm sure that polish gd with great painters from france and spain will be great chance to see lot of master painted minis. hehe now I'm thinking that it's easier go and win there some gd than on our polish gd soon;]

I know it's in my back yard, but I didn't feel like paying them $40 or so to just go to look. Sorry. :(

Brother Alecium wrote:For the record I think it is crap that they let her compete in the Golden Demon in the first place. She probably doesn't even know what the crap a Space Marine does. Also I heard that she was one of the top ranked painters in the world. This is also crap to let her participate over and over and over again, and continue getting the Demon Swords for it.

However she is pretty damn hot, and I think there possibly could be something fishy going on with her and Jervis Johnson. Maybe that is how she is getting all of those swords.

There's a couple different schools of thought on letting professional or top of the line painters enter things like GD year after year. I can see both sides. I'm a friend or acquaintance to a bunch of the better US painters. I feel for them. They have the talent and put in the time and effort, they should be allowed to compete for the prizes. At the same time, when someone asked me last week if my PP entry for Gen Con was finished yet I laughed. Jen Haley likes to paint PP, as do a whole lot of people. And there's a $1000 best of show award and $200 per category top award. So essentially, one of these amazing painters is going to walk off with $1200. Do they deserve it because they're the best? Sure they do. But it also means that I will likely never participate in that competition because I KNOW I don't stand a chance. Similarly, I won't participate in a GD again unless I think I can win a FW best of show, because that's the only chance I probably have. Every time I think I've figured out a category that tends to be a little weaker at a particular GD, the "big boys and girls" show up and all enter that same category 'cause they thought so too. *shrug* So I don't enter larger contests very often at all because I'm a mid-grade painter at best.

every year the same kind of remarks at those forums... pointless to debate with sad mentalities.

GD's or contests are really not my thing, i dont have the time or money to travel to compete on my hobby... but i do understand people sometimes feeling down by constantly losing... my word to them... if i would ever lose on a painting competition to same people i would take my efforts to the next level just to kick their ass next year... may seem a bit utopic but thats the way i face competitions.

True. But this year I'm mostly going to meet up with friends.

But I also see both sides of the issue. One one hand I'm glad the cream of the crop enters every year as you are bound to see great stuff. On the other hand if you enter yourselve and have to go up against one of them you know you hardly stand a chance...
