Wednesday progress

I did a little work on the gold armor and I painted the leather. Looking at the model now, I'm going to back and add another layer of highlights on the edges of the leather.

Here's a quick shot of the base. I'm going to be using water effects to make a small water fall where the base has been carved out. I really enjoyed using the water effects for my last Wyrd entry, so I'm going to try something a bit more ambitious for this one. That blue color I used to base where the water is going to be is P3's Meredius Blue. It leans a little towards turquoise, and I think I'm going to try to find reasons to include it on more models. A very cool color. I also used the brown ink from P3 on the base. It's an odd color. It's a bit closer to a maroon ink than a true brown. I think I'm going to have to go out and purchase a more traditional brown ink, but this ink is definitely a nice way to add some depth to reds and some browns. Seeing it by itself (instead of mixed with yellow) I can see why it made my gold armor look so different from what I had expected. Anyway...

I'm really curious of the final effect after adding water on the blue-painted base:
personally I used only one type (and brand) of water effect but learned that painting the surface blue, green or any other color You like before adding water not always gives result You expect :? (I hope You understand my babbling);
will there be any blood splattered on the hammer or maybe You want to leave it "pure"?

Hammer is going to be "pure," I usually undercoat area for water effects with a darker brown or green, but for this, I'm going for the clear mountain spring kind of look. I might throw a little brown over that blue, and I need to add a little of the blue into the river bed on the rock. I'm going to add a drop of either blue or turquoise ink to the water effects when I get that going.

If you remember my hammer chick, she had a brown base coat, and watter effects with green and yellow ink in it. It came out a lot darker than I want this project's water to be, so I'm going to try less ink in the water effects, and a brighter base color. We'll see what happens.

I'm probably not going to take any new update photos for a few weeks. Tanya is back in the states this afternoon, and her next trip is in about 2 weeks. While she's in Portugal, I'll get the rest of this guy finished.
