personally doesnt bother me a single bit... little lead toy soldiers to paint are here for a long long long time and will continue that way for many years to come.
The idea that this will kill the painting minis hobby is at least exagerated.
Besides with the current minis i already have i will be very busy for my lifetime
Available this June, Legendary Encounters? is Reaper's all new pre-painted plastic miniatures line.
Legendary Encounters? is sold in a non-blind, non-collectible format. These miniatures will be packaged using Reaper?s existing standard blister card. As you can see below, smaller monster types are available in both a single pack and a 3 pack.
If you check out the AT-43 (Rackham Sci-Fi prepaints) you'll see that many (like Tuffskull & others) are priming & repainting them with good results. Hopefully the Reaper minis will have the same characteristics that make the Rackham prepaints repaints too! (baked on factory finish, high relief sculpts)
Human faces and human sized minis lack detail for painting purposes... big machines... well their big.
FOr example aberration prime plastics are much superior to at43 ones... and at 43 are freaking expensive.
edit: mind they are good for what their aimed for... gaming. but for painting not quite...specially the human faces.
Oh and mouldlines very discret.
there are better painting canvas outhere.
I must confess I have some pre-painted minis in my collection
these are dunwich detectives from old em4 line... before ordering them I knew sculpts were terrible, and painting even worse but I couldn't resist old "call of cthulhu" addiction
must... praise... great... old... ones... IA IA IA SHUB NIGGURATH!!!
as Nameless said - Reaper released prepainted miniatures. Here are some pics of this stuff.... Pretty weak IMO. If the pics were already posted here - my apologies...
EDIT: Merged topics...
