It didn't fail - it reminds me of Irkuck's silver NMM. For me it simply isn't shaded enough. I like NMM full of contrast. Other thana that the mini looks cool. And have you considered giving the black parts a dark wash? Dark purple or purple + black? Something Jakob Rune Nielsen does...

Well its not a total failure then but like I said, it was more a first time thing - still learning.
