I believe that's because brown stuff allows you to create sharper edges

Yes, correct. I use brownstuff to create sharper edges. But there are some other reasons. When you put miniature under the hot lamp to dry faster, greenStuff changes little bit shape and swell. When you use brownStuff you can put it very close to lamp and have dryed putty in 10minutes! When I'm finishing the miniature most often I'm so close deadline, that brownStuff helps me make miniature on time :)
It is also good to use BS to finishing details, because it is different color from the rest miniature, which helps jugde detail quality separate from the mini. In fact all reasons are conected.

Cześć Jerzy :)
Milo cie widziec u nas na forum. Jeszcze do dzisiaj pamietam twoje warsztaty na WM 03, jakie robiles z Kerimem :)

What do you use, when you sculpt: only water or also an oil ?
From where do you get BS ? Is it avaible here, in Poland?
Have you ever tried other modelling stuff, like a fimo, magic sculp ?

czesc, warsztaty to za duzo powiedziane...... :) ja tam tylko siedzialem ;P

When I sculpt I use saliva (strange word) - I just lick the tool. But I don't recommend it! It's not very healthly and I'm trying to lose this habit, but when I sculpt I don't evet think about it.. unfortunately :/
I didn't see BS anywhere in poland yet. I buy it from internet shops as well as GS. It's cheaper even when you add shippment cost. I buy it more (like 3 rolls), and than keep it in the fridge. Thanks this it is still fresh even half year later.
I didin't work in other putties. I bought fimo about year ago, but I still don't have time to make miniature with it :( I made only some test bits and I really like the consistency of fimo, but at the moment it's too big risk to start any project with material I don't know as good as GS.

Thanks for the answers Jerz! (you too ToMaZ!;) )

Are you maybe planning to do some tutorials on sculting? (techniques, etc...)

Szary, this is not the best place to put an advertisement, but please check the site given in my profile. You'll find BS (and not only that) there.

Unfortunately I don't have time to do any tutorials at the moment :/
I don't like also to stop sculpt to take photos. When I'm sculpting I don't think about other things.
But I think there are some methods as good as tutorials. Just try to copy the miniature you like. Yes I think it can be sometimes borring, but during sculpting you will learn a lot and create your own technics for different elements. In fact every sculptor have his own technics. When you finish the miniature you can compare it with original and then you will see your mistakes... and you know how it was made ;)
