Very cool, KU. I love your brainstorming page, that is a great idea, which I might have to steal.
On the basing, maybe cork is the way to go? A thin sheet of cork laid down on the base, properly distressed, and painted. Not something overly tall or complex, especially since you're intending to carry the scheme across 150 some bases. With some snow, that'd be pretty mountainous. I don't know, I've been on a cork kick recently. Damn brushthralls.

Cork.. hmm, this is the second time it has been suggested. I may do it but I have next to no experience with base making, the army deserves to look prrtty though. Anywhere that I can see a nice simple, stoney looking cork base?
Also anyone in the UK have ideas on where to get it? I think B&Q would be my best bet.

You see cork everywhere, just look around on the net (first search threw me this out).
You can get cork for free in restaurants. I bought my cork plates in IKEA, 3 round shaped ones of about 20 cm diameter was somewhere between 2-3 euros (that might be a bit thick for your purposes).

I once made a tutorial about basing, let me see if I can dig it up and post it on our website somewhere !
cork bases are very easy to do, and if you are going for a mountainous look you don't need alot of extra stuff on the base, some sand will do then.
I am busy ( early stages ) with a dark elf regiment of 16 warriors, and I have allready made all the bases. It took me about 1 hour for all 16 bases to assemble, and propably another hour to paint them all. Can't say that it's too much work

In fact the Brushthralls recently did an article about mountainous bases made with cork. Resulting in my working on cork bases for my Ogres.
Linky
Second and third pages are about cork bases. I picked some up from my local crafts store in 12"x12" squares, four of them for about 10 dollars US. Should be a ton of bases worth.
