I like this mini a lot. It's much better (in my opinion) that previous vampire. I like shading on his body, but Mahon give you some good pointers how you can improve it (his Photoshop looks better :)).

Very nice but to me personally this isn't your best so far! (for me it's the Illyad barbarian) The tips mahon gave sound and look like a good idea but i'd understand if you'd want to move on. :)

I'd recommend to move on and try the ideas on some other miniature...

26-27/2009 - Wolf & Red

Post by Nameless »

Some time ago few stories about love, death and monsters (Ladyhawke movie, polish fantasy story about vampiress and were-monster lovers, Little Red Hood) mixed up in my head. Here's how it all ended.
I'm not really sure what my story is about. I think it's a sad love story with no happy end. Decide for yourselves. Wolf is a Reaper miniature, and Red comes from Warmachine range (hey, my first PP mini!).

I think it's a really well done piece. Individually the models are done well, nice colour choices which compliment each other but as a whole it's great. The attention to detail on the base is particularly nice with lots of flora and fauna on one side and the other a wasteland, i think if you swapped the positions of the models so that the little girl was in the desolate area would have made a much more ironic impact, overall im really liking the piece, was it for a warm up/practice before IP? ;)

As a whole, awesome!

Some things individual: The colours of the werewolf and the ground under him are too alike. (the greys) that's why I think Arctica's suggestion might indeed work but I also understand why you placed them like this. Have you tried some washes of green and brown over the grey rock area? It might liven it up and part the model from the base a bit more.

Are you planning on adding pools of water effect in the ditch? Might be a very cool addition. Also, the side of the diorama look a bit messy in places.
One more thing, on her right side in the first pic I see a line running across her body?

But as I said, all seen together I really dig the concept and execution! :D

@arctica - I didn't want it to be ironic.
it was my entry for the rotten harvest contest.

@Skrit - yeah, I'm the Master of the Missed Moldlines. Unfortunately :banghead:
regarding water - that gap between them is a symbol only, not a true physical obstacle. I had been considering adding water, but ditched this idea as it didn't suit my story.

Okay, but I didn't mean wholly filled with water but more in puddles, as if it was a dried out stream. :)
