Jervis Johnson attended Gencon this year for the NAF Bloodbowl tournament (I did horribly) and I had a chance to have a quick chat with him. The most exciting news I got from this was that apparently GW is looking at doing a new edition of SpaceHulk. Not as a specialist game but as something similar to the Battle of Macragge box set. He said it would be a mesh of the first and second edition Spacehulks, something like using second edition shooting rules and bringing back some of the first edition things like hybrids and maybe psychics. It would be geared up as an intro game designed to be sold not only in GW stores but places like Toys r Us also. Kind of a primer for 40K, some place to get people interested and then pull them into the core games (kind of like how I got hooked on 40K really).
He also went on to mention that some of the things that we hear rumors for occasionally (i.e. plastic Baneblade specifically mentioned) are not so far fetched anymore. There is going to be an increase in things done in plastic on a larger scale. Apparently one of the new technologies they have been working on is that they don't have to do a 3up scale prototype for the figs anymore. The new Black Templar doors sprue was the first to go right from the computer design straight to production. Since that worked out well they are going to try bigger and better things.
Unfortunately he didn't give a time frame for these things but it is nice to know they might be on their way! As always Jervis was a nice guy and great to talk to.
space hulk! by the time I had interest they were not selling anymore... so a rebox is welcomed! Of course if they stuff up the rules, we can always go back and use the old ones. Textured plastic tiles would be cool if they can make it! Even cooler, have them like the wizkids dungeon! but if you want mass distribution, printed (in colour) would be the smart step, unfortunately.

i still have my original version here and the genestealer and deathwing ad on's.
As do I but you can never have enough Sapce Hulk, the mission generator in the old rules practically meant that the opportunities were endless and the only thing limiting the size of the hulks to explore and fight in were the amount of space you had or the amount of flor tiles. I got every issue of WD from issue 3 so I even have all the additional rules scenarios and floor plans that were printed there.
