The photo is bad I took like 30 pics and this is the best I could get.... I'm going to see if I can borrow my friends camera maybe it will work better?

I finished the conversion and started painting base coats just trying to figure out what colors I wanted where and how to make it not look like a big mess. I finished the skin completly and am going to finish the cloaks next please tell me what you think if you can even see whats going on here....

Thank you all!

Seph

Ok on these the problem is the color I need to buy some better lights but I figured out my camera.... Thanks for the help!

well, not much to see, sorry. But she defenitly looks nurglesque to me :D

Anyway, try putting a blank sheet of white/blue paper behind your mini. that'll make your camera focus on the mini, and not the bigger things behind it. Also you can take better pics if you use the macro function: that's the little flower sign. Those two things should make your pics better :)

Unfortunately the pic is too blurred to give any comment but as for taking pics Tomaz has said about using a blue to white fade as a background which is excellent advice most painters do this to get the best results.

Also I don't know what resolution you are using on your camera but even with a 2megapixel you should be able to get shots a little clearer. You need to use your macro setting and then you realy need to use a tripod and the delayed shot feature, I usually set mine to 2 seconds delay that gives me chance to press the button and get clear.

Another point is try cropping your pic so you get more of the mini and less of the background once you have done that resize it down to about 350 wide and that should help alot.

Hope that is of some use to you, if you want the blue to white fade background either e-mail me or add me to msn and I'll send it to you.

nice to see closer picture
now it looks definitely nurglish - it's hard to believe she... eee... IT once was a cannonnes
I can advise You to paint much more highlights - colors You chose are nurflish for sure, but without highlights it looks rather like green blob rather than cannoness :?
that's all from me - so far...

:curtain: btw - is the bra You used here taken from warzone's nepharite of ilian?

As a Sister of Battle player I think that you treat that poor Cannoness without respect :(

Fluffwise I do not like your army because they are a bunch of heretics that should be burn

Saying that you should do something wih PURITY seals, to make her do more chaotic, remove the fleur the lys from her knee (pic is blurred but I think it is still there)

ok she defenintly looks nurgle :) There are a couple of things that you need to pay some more attaction on (and I don't mean this in a bad way, only trying to give you some good tips).

First you need to thin your paints more and use a couple of thin layers to get a good color to work on. Thick paints will obscure details and won't look smooth. You will get a good looking mini by just putting one colour thin and smoothly (this may take a couple of layers before you get a good coverage)
Second, try to separate some parts of the mini and be a bit more neat... I mean that if you paint armour, and you slapped some paint on non armour as well, clean it up a bit,and then paint the details. This is to get a good defenition between the different parts. For example: the purity seal on the cloak would have looked much better if it was touched up with black and then painted again to seperate it from the cloak.
Third, try to highlight. This doesn't need to be 7 layers immediatly. Two or three layers of lighter colors will look great to start with (basecolour + some white or bone). Just to get the experience.

These steps are quite simple and will pull up the mini appearance. The best thing you could do is look up some good tutorials on the net, and look at WIP topics and other miniatures. The net can teach you a lot about painting miniatures.
Don't let my post get you down, the mini looks defenitly nurlish, but as you said: you wanted to step up your painting. I think these things would aid you :)

Try browsing this for some good articles on painting and everything else miniature related: https://www.coolminiornot.com/article These articles helped me a lot with my painting.
And don't be afraid to ask advice :)

Thanks for all your advice! I guess I ned to point out that only the skin is really finished... The cloaks are almost there but still need work. I'm not really sure what to do with the purity seals I kinda want to leave them just to show that they couldn't even protect her from the great power that is Chaos. I still want her to have some Sisters characteristics.. The bra is actually on the model already I just painted it to look like it was barely covering her. And i tried to make it look like she had swollen up and was bulging out of her armor. I appreciate your advice and am goin to keep working on this. It is my first model ever to actually take time and convert and actually look at my painting so I hope to learn a lot on this one. I don't expect it to be the greatest or really even that good, but I hope for the best :D

Thanks
