not really excited about the face, but the shield and freehand number on shoulderpad are really good!

thanks! for whatever reason my hands tend to tremor alot right up until my brush is about a half cm from the model, thus the shakes :P i agree about the face,
i was trying not to make it pop so as to not tke from the shield and rest of free hand but its just to subtle. now for some more pics, my internet cut out half way
through last night.

some images of a marine i did a little conversion work on, posing and redoing the waist a little. can pretty much ignore the painting for now, i was doodling on him
looking for inspiration

just a soul drinker termie i started working on, part of a friends birthday gift. just basecoating and doing the bone for now. think the bone is coming along nicely,
admittedly quite subtle. might possibly deepen the shadow.

never done any sculpting before outside of fillers and parchments, gas masks etc, little things. anyway i decided its time to start. leg isnt done but im hoping to convert/plasticard up/sculpt a lion'el jhonson. leg isnt done yet, i wanna have sunrays coming off the face on the leg and need to do more on the upper leg but its a start. criticism and sculpting advice would be very welcome, criticism on everything you feel the urge to but especially advice.

lastly an inquisitor im slowly working on, slight repositioning of arms, torso twist, and a new weapon. supposed to be an eviscerator but ive been told its a little small :D

blending on jacket is atrocious. hoping some glazes will fix it, if not start over.

anyway, criticism is appreciated and thats all for now, thanks everyone :)

Can't fault the guy with the shield and power fist. The pictures could do with a change in color temperature, but other then that stunning work and great feehand stuff.

As for the rest of the minis my skills are not up to improving the parts that are finished :-)

thanks FF! as odd as it sounds i think the colors on the marine are acurate, the blues look quite similar to how they do in real life and he was shot on cream colored paper.
the others look kind of blue/white because though they were shot on the same cream velum like paper i used a flash. however, i dont know anything about photography.
could you possibly give me a short run down on changing color temperature? i dont even know what it means:( lol. i just graded and was given a D60slr for a grad present, go
parents. im getting more interested in photography purely for recreational purposes and am trying to slowly learn about them. any advice is appreciated :D

anyway, thanks for taking the time to look, criticism is always welcomed!

Well. Light has a certain color, and sometimes you talk about color temprature. What it basically mean is that indoor lights like ordinary bulbs has a sort of yellowish color compared to outside light from the sun. Normally the camera should be able to compensate for this (Auto White Balance or something), but sometimes it gets it wrong... What I like to do is place a white object in the photo if the background or something on the model isn't pure white. Then you can almost always correct for color errors. In most photo editing software you can just click on a white pixel and the program adjusts it automagically

For these images I just autoadjusted the color in Photoshop, but there are plenty of software that can do this, and most likely also the one that came with your camera.

The difference on the armor is minor, and maybe the first picture is correct, but this looks better to me. Another trick you can use is get a daylight bulb from an artist supply shop. These are much closer in color to ordinary daylight, and sometimes it helps in judging colors on a mini to have one in your desktop lamp.

wicked, thanks FF! the color doesnt seem very much brighter to me but theres a huge difference to the backdrop tone, it brightens the whole image up.

new mini, new NMM gold pallet thanks to arctica, and a new technique. im trying sebastions flesh technique...sort of. its totally
different to how i normally paint and im finding it quite difficult but i like the result. i think it looks pretty decent for first try on a
totally new type of painting. im trying to paint him with a light source sort of above and infront of his head, thus the NMM gold is
very very dark at the bottom and slowly transitions to white at the top. im really likeing this new NMM gold pallet, thanks again to
arctica. its quite a bit different from my normal pallet shown on my SM. more ruddy, not so yellow. anyway let me know what you
and any suggestions would be appreciated. especially on how to improve my "juicing" technique as i believe sebastion refers to it.
so far ive only really worked on his belt buckle and abdomen with a tiny bit over the rest of his flesh. ill post more pictures as i get
further into the paint.
